今年ほど、「法」について意識し、また議論されたことがあるでしょうか？ 「法」というと、まず、次の聖書の言葉を思い出します。最初は、世界の終末についての弟子たちの質問に対して答えたイエス・キリストの言葉です。
『不法がはびこるので、多くの人の愛が冷える』（マタイによる福音書24章12節）。
つまり、世界歴史の終末が近づくと、「不法」がはびこり、その結果、社会が無法化して、秩序を失い、人間相互にあるべき基本的な信頼、愛、思いやりが失われていくとキリストは言われたのです。
次は、使徒パウロの言葉です。
『罪を犯す者は皆、法に背くのです。罪とは、法に背くことです』（ヨハネの手紙一、3章4節）。
人間が神様に創造されたとき、人（アダムとエバ）の心は、創造者であられる神への愛と、お互いに対する愛で満ちていました。神様がそのような存在として人を創造されからです。彼らの心には、神の御品性そのものである愛の法（掟）が、心に刻印されていました。
しかし、人が神（つまり「法」）にそむいた時、罪の遺伝子が愛の遺伝子に取って変わり、その結果、世界は混乱し、秩序を失っていきました。
そこで、神は、モーセの時代に、十戒を与えられました。つまり、アダムの心に不文律の形で刻印されていた「法」が、2枚の石の板に、神ご自身の手によって、成文化された形で、刻まれて与えられたのです。 それが十戒です。
イエス・キリストは、この十戒について質問を受けた時に、次のようにお答えになりました、
「『心を尽くし、精神を尽くし、思いを尽くして、あなたの神である主を愛しなさい。』これが最も重要な第一の掟である。第二も、これと同じように重要である。『隣人を自分のように愛しなさい。』」と。
つまり、十戒の本質は、神と人への愛であって、第1戒から第十戒までの１０の戒め（掟）は、その愛を具体的に現わしたものであると言われたのです。
話が、やや飛躍しますが、世界各国の「憲法」は、程度の差はあっても、この十戒が土台となっていると言って、良いでしょう。
わたしたちの祖国である日本にも、「平和憲法」として知られる素晴らしい憲法が与えられていますが、戦後70年目の今、この憲法が危機にさらされているように感じます。私だけでなく、多くの人々がそのように感じています。
使徒パウロは、次のように述べて、為政者のために祈るよう勧めています。『そこで、まず第一に勧めます。願いと祈りと執り成しと感謝とをすべての人々のためにささげなさい。王たちやすべての高官のためにもささげなさい。・・・これは、私たちの救い主である神の御前に良いことであり、喜ばれることです』（テモテへの手紙一、2章1-3節）。
国家が、神のみ心に逆らって、間違った方向に突き進み、国民を
不幸に陥れることがないように、今こそ、私たちは、国家のかじ取りをする責任を負わされている総理大臣をはじめ、為政者一人一人のために、涙をもって、切に祈らなければならない！ それが、古希（70歳）に向かう第一日目の私の思いです。
